The Fetch the Sun Story
Fetch the Sun is a veteran owned company located in San Diego, California. Our purpose is to create high quality, adventure-based matching apparel for dogs and humans.
We design our products to inspire and encourage healthy, outdoor fun with dogs. Our philosophy is that the more we can promote doggy adventures, the happier pups will be in the world.
After constantly looking for dog-themed, adventure-based clothing and coming up empty handed, we thought, “why don’t we make some; and better yet, why don’t we make it matching?”. And with that, Fetch the Sun was born! Today, our matching clothing for dogs and people is available in a variety of designs that we hope encourage people to take their dogs out and enjoy the nature that surrounds us.
We are firm believers of the physical and mental health benefits for both dogs and humans that getting out into nature and being active provides. We’re always out exploring our area with our two pups, Snoopy & Lucy, looking for fun new adventures: hiking trails, dog friendly beaches, running tracks, dog parks, etc
We’d love to rescue all the animals in the world, but with our two kids, two dogs, and three cats, our house is already at max capacity. So instead of adopting more animals, we decided to help shelter pets find new, forever homes through our monthly animal shelter donation program. Each month, Fetch the Sun chooses an animal shelter to sponsor and then donates a generous portion of sales that month to that shelter. We are extremely proud of this program and have donated every month since we began in 2019.
Fetch the Sun was founded and is ran by husband & wife team Steve & Jennifer. Both are avid dog lovers, and they share a passion for the outdoors.
Steve grew up with German Shepherds in the house and learned early on about the strength of the bond between dog and owner. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 18 and retired as a Lieutenant Commander after 23 years of honorable service. A combat veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, he specialized in logistics and served in a variety of roles from a submarine supply and intelligence officer to battlefield logistics director. Steve is a proponent for veteran benefits and volunteers as an adaptive surfing coach taking fellow veterans surfing to aid healing physical and mental wounds through surf therapy.
Jennifer also grew up surrounded by animals and developed her love for dogs, cats and horses at an early age. A business graduate of San Diego State University, she spent most of her professional career in the aerospace industry doing sales and customer service for a small family-owned aircraft parts company in San Diego, CA. Currently, as a certified dog trainer, she enjoys using her positive only training techniques to help dogs and puppies learn and grow. Jennifer has volunteered her time walking dogs at local animal shelters and stays actively involved volunteering at her children’s schools.
