Looking for a great place to grab some drinks in San Diego that serves top-notch beverages and has a dog friendly tasting room? Whether you’re looking for beer, wine, or cider, Fetch the Sun has the dog friendly brewery for you and your pup. Check out our list of awesome destinations in the San Diego area with dog friendly tasting rooms:
After years of brewing at home, Darrel Brown established Savagewood Brewing Company in 2016. Located in the heart of Scripps Ranch, Savagewood is easy to get to from pretty much anywhere in San Diego.
They offer a wide range of beers that’s sure to satisfy almost any taste. From strong IPAs to smooth lagers, you’ll be finding your new favorite beer in no time. It’s also a great place to grab a bite. Try Angry Pete’s Pizza, SMACK’N Guamanian BBQ, or Rombombburger, it’s guaranteed to be a flavor overload!
Any brewery that boasts their own pack, “Dogs of Savagewood”, is a must visit for any beer and dog lover. Their dog friendly tasting room offers a chill vibe, cool dogs, and often features Moodkillaz DJs dropping fresh hits. In 2020, Fetch the Sun collaborated with Savagewood to develop a Fetch the Sun beer; an American wheat beer with lemon and lime.
Inside tip: Check them out on Thirsty Thursdays where Happy Hour is all night long!
Hard Cider: Poochie's Hooch Urban Cidery
Poochie’s Hooch serves up some of the crispest, most refreshing cider around. Mary Paulson has been making great tasting hard cider since 2015 and opened shop in 2018. Conveniently, the cidery is right next to the entrance of Mission Gorge; a great place for hiking adventures with your pup.
Poochie’s Hooch has a wide variety of hard ciders; from Just Plain Apple and Peach Sparkling to Cinville Apple and Red Hot Candy, you’re sure to discover your new favorite beverage. And, Mary’s ciders are easy on the tummy; only 8 grams of carbs and 8 grams of sugar in a 16oz serving!
To say Mary loves dogs would be an understatement. Her cidery is called Poochie’s Hooch and it features a dog friendly tasting room; and she donates 20% of all profits to Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue.
Mary also gives back to the local small business community by hosting small businesses during her Sip n Shop events in the Cidery. Every third Sunday of the month you can visit the cidery, get some refreshing beverages and shop the fare of many local small businesses.
Wine: Blue Door Winery
With two locations to serve the greater San Diego area, Blue Door Winery has fantastic wine, but they are also one of the only wineries around with a dog friendly tasting room! Their San Diego location is right off the I-5 in Pacific Beach on Morena Boulevard and their Julian dog friendly tasting room is conveniently located off Main Street (Highway 78).
So if you’re looking for your next favorite wine and if you are a dog lover, be sure to check out Blue Door Winery!
