Looking for a dog friendly campground with beautiful scenery, close to world-class hiking, and that’s full of nature? Today, we venture 466 miles from Fetch the Sun's HQ in San Diego California to Sedona Arizona to visit Manzanita Campground. Located on Oak Creek, this campsite is a must-visit destination for those dog lovers that enjoy hiking and camping. And best of all, it’s dog friendly!

The campground has toilets and there is drinking water available; although it is always recommended that you bring bottled water. Each campsite comes with a picnic table, cooking grills and a firepit. One of the coolest things about this site is that there are literally fishing and swimming holes right next to the campground with easy access in and out. And the creek is regularly stocked with trout.

Located about 11-miles from the Sedona city center, Manzanita sits nestled in between Route 89A and Oak Creek. The location of this campground is close to some of the most beautiful/picturesque hiking in the world and it right across the road from the Sterling Pass Trailhead (home of the Vultee Arch). Another must-see destination, Slide Rock, is located less than a mile north of Manzanita is also dog friendly.

Tamaliza has got nom noms!

Manzanita has everything you need to cook your own campground favorites; but if you want to venture out for a nice meal, Sedona offers plenty of dog friendly restaurants. Sedona Pizza Company is a personal favorite, serving up delicious pizzas and sandwiches (try the Bianco!). It’s so dog friendly that they even have a dog menu! If you’re looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, Tamaliza Café serves the best Mole, gourmet Tamales, and Chilaquiles in the land! And their dog friendly patio seating is perfect if you bring your pup. Another cool spot to eat is Mesa Grill. Located on top of the Sedona Airport, you and your pup can scope out some amazing views from the patio while dining on gourmet breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees. In addition to great food, Sedona also has lots of little shops & boutiques that are dog friendly.

Planning A Trip

Sign for Manzanita Campground

Manzanita has 19-spots available for 1 to 7 day rentals; however, they fill up quick. Their online campsite reservation system makes booking easy. Since it fills up fast reservations should be made a month or two in advance and even longer during peak periods. Camping there is tent and/or small sleep-in vehicle only. One vehicle is allowed per campsite and due to the small size, RVs, motor homes, and trailers are prohibited. While it is a dog friendly campground, Manzanita requires that all pets must be kept on a leash or restrained.

Bring Out The Inner Wolf

So, if you’re looking for the perfect place to camp, that’s dog friendly, check out Manzanita in the Coconino National Forest. Escape to nature with your best furry friend and listen to the sound of the water in the creek, the songbirds in the trees, and the crackle of the campfire.
